The 1st Latin American Road Ecology Congress (CLEC) and the 1st Colombian Road Ecology Congress will come together to create the first in-person international platform in Latin America dedicated to this field. The congress will bring together scientists, engineers, planners, policymakers, financial institutions, and local communities to address the ecological challenges arising from the expansion of transportation networks across Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the Organizers

The congress is the result of the strategic synergy between LACTWG, ITM, and RECOSFA, combining infrastructure, technical expertise, and international reach. As the host institution and a leading national academic reference, ITM provides the technical foundation required for an event of this scale. RECOSFA contributes scientific excellence through its extensive experience in wildlife monitoring and the mitigation of impacts associated with Colombia’s linear transportation infrastructure. Finally, LACTWG expands the congress to a regional level by promoting the exchange of experiences and connecting experts from across Latin America and the Caribbean. Together, these institutions ensure a forum of academic excellence and specialized leadership, fostering the advancement of Road Ecology.

LACTWG

The Latin America and Caribbean Transportation Working Group (LACTWG) is composed of professionals from different countries committed to reducing wildlife mortality on transportation networks throughout Latin America. The group is part of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

ITM University Institution

ITM is a public higher education institution affiliated with the Municipality of Medellín. It is dedicated to technological, technical, and professional education and is recognized for its high academic standards and strong focus on engineering. Through its extension programs, ITM has contributed significantly to the city’s development by promoting research and innovation.

RECOSFA

RECOSFA is a citizen science initiative and a Colombian research network that collects and analyzes data on wildlife affected by road collisions, electrocution, and other infrastructure-related incidents. Through partnerships with public and private organizations, RECOSFA has helped develop a range of strategies for preventing and mitigating these impacts.

Our Scientific Committee is composed of a distinguished group of researchers and professionals with extensive expertise, ensuring a balance of scientific rigor and practical experience.
